The Alternative Fashion Fabric Fair (Alt.FFF), new Pan-African platform connecting Africa’s fashion, textile, materials and manufacturing ecosystem, is set to launch on Saturday, 19th September 2026, at The Palms Convention Centre, La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, Accra.
Held under the theme “Where Materials Speak Before Fashion,” the launch edition will place African materials, production and sourcing at the centre of conversations about the future of fashion. The fair is designed to bring greater visibility to the fibres, fabrics, leather, textiles, trims, sustainable materials and other resources that form the foundation of Africa’s fashion and creative industries.
With many fashion events often placing finished garments and designers at the centre, Alt.FFF turns attention to the wider ecosystem behind fashion: the producers, artisans, manufacturers, material innovators and businesses whose work makes fashion possible.
The fair will create opportunities for participants to discover, trade, shop and be inspired, while connecting businesses and industry stakeholders around new sourcing opportunities, partnerships and markets.
At the heart of Alt.FFF is a commitment to strengthening intra-African trade by encouraging African fashion businesses to look within the continent for materials, production capabilities and commercial partnerships. By bringing producers and potential buyers into the same space, the fair seeks to create stronger connections across Africa’s textile and fashion value chain.
The launch edition will feature a curated showcase of African materials and products, opportunities to connect with exhibitors and industry players, and experiences designed to encourage greater appreciation of the processes, heritage and innovation behind the materials used in fashion.
“Alt.FFF is about shifting the conversation. We want people to look beyond the finished garment and ask: Where did the material come from? Who produced it? What capabilities exist within Africa? And how can we create stronger business relationships around them?” said Makeba Boateng, Founder of Fashion Forum Africa and Lead Curator of Alt.FFF.
She added, “For our launch edition, we are bringing together the people and businesses that are shaping this part of the fashion ecosystem, while creating a space for buyers, designers, retailers, investors and the wider public to discover what Africa has to offer.”
The fair is expected to attract stakeholders from across the fashion, textile, manufacturing, creative and cultural sectors, including fabric and fibre producers, artisans, leather and material businesses, designers, manufacturers, buyers, retailers, sourcing professionals, investors and fashion enthusiasts.
Alt.FFF is being organised by Fashion Forum Africa and supported by industry and cultural institutions including Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) Garments, Textiles and Leather Sector., National Commission on Culture, Institute of Textiles & Fashion Professionals Ghana (ITFP-Ghana), Ghana Culture Forum, Ghana Tourism Authority, and Creative Arts Agency, with Black Star Experience as an official key partner.
