On Tuesday, March 21, Egypt’s Fashion and Design Council (EFDC) announced the country’s first-ever fashion week at a press conference at the Semiramis InterContinental in the capital, Cairo.
The first-ever edition will be themed, “The Past, Present, and Future”, starting the 12th of May 2023 to the 15th of May 2023.
The opening night will be held in the Cairo Egyptian Museum, featuring the “Best of Egyptian Designers” fashion show curated by American stylist Julie Matos followed by a gala dinner.
The following two days will be held at the second most important museum specializing in “agriculture” in the world, the Museum of Agriculture. The museum will be opening its doors for the first time after five years of renovation for EFW. There will be several activities on the grounds of the museum, from runway shows, and exhibitions to panel discussions by local and international fashion industry leaders.
The fashion week will end with “Shop the Runway” and more fashion experiences at Mall of Arabia, a gold sponsor.
Egypt Fashion Week is supported by BMW Egypt, as a platinum sponsor. Other sponsors include African Export Development Bank, Premiumcard, and The Cotton Egypt Association. The EFDC is also excited to partner with The U.S. Embassy in Egypt, the French Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Egypt, L’Oreal, Al Sagheer Salons, and Al Ahram Beverages. The creative consultant is Don Tanani and service providers include Tanis, F2F Agency, Semiramis InterContinental Hotel, POD, and Snap14.
Official media partners include Eurovision, Pashion, Enigma, Cairo West, and WIDN; attending media representatives will vary between national and international publications such as Vogue Italy, Vogue Arabia, Al Sharq Al Awsat, WWD, and ASVOF.
