CHRISTIE BROWN ACADEMY EQUIPS AFRICAN FASHION CREATIVES FOR THE FASHION INDUSTRY

On June 14, 2025, Christie Brown Academy, in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation, held a fashion show graduation ceremony at the Accra Marriot Hotel to celebrate the successful completion of its second cohort. A total number of 25 fashion entrepreneurs graduated from the program, each showcasing designs that reflected their identity, culture and, creativity.

The runway was filled with outstanding pieces, highlighting the graduates’ commitment to sustainability and innovation. From repurposed denims, to our traditional kente fabrics, Designers creatively transformed different fabrics into beautiful garments that wowed attendees.

Aisha Ayensu

Aisha Ayensu, Founder and director of Christie Brown Academy, addressed the audience with a message on the future of Africa fashion. She emphasized the Academy’s mission to equip young African creatives with practical skills that would elevate African fashion to a global stage. “Christie Brown Academy was created to train and empower young people to turn their creativity into business that can thrive globally. We must focus on building brands of excellence that reflect the essence of Africa- not just in appearance, but also in structure. This is how we build a strong ecosystem.

Nene Diallo

Nene Diallo, Capacity Development & Mass Entrepreneurship Lead-Pan African Programs for Mastercard Foundation, in her engagement with the media mentioned “The Mastercard Foundation is committed to empowering young people, especially women in entrepreneurship. Our partnership with Christie Brown aligns with our mission to support young people. The creative industry is a vital space where many young people need support.”

After the fashion show, three (3) Outstanding participants were honored with $1000.00 Seed Funding for their outstanding performances all through out the training period. They were Barbara Clement, Creative director of Barbarah Clement, Nancy Osei, Creative director of Juni Official and Mavis Nelson, Creative director of Art dress by Mavis.
