Ajike Shea Center, a social enterprise promoting the effective use of shea butter recently opened its flagship retail shop at East Legon in Accra.

The one-stop shop for all things shea butter stocks plant-based organic and handmade products for women, men and children in the form of moisturizers, soaps, shampoo, etc which are all vegan; artificial color, sulfates, silicon and mineral oil-free.
Founder of Ajike Shea center, Ajike Dsani in a welcome remark mentioned, the center was started to create jobs for women in the Northern region of Ghana and has been helping many of them gain financial freedom while promoting equity, dignity and fairness through its ‘Shea Queens’ who are very instrumental in sourcing the raw materials until they are packaged into the various finishing products.

As a socially responsible company, Ajike shea center has also initiated solely funded educational projects including the construction of a 13-classroom school building (yet to be completed) and paying of some teachers in the communities it operates from in the Northern region.

In a twist to the culture of the usual cake cutting at events, the founder together with the Shea Queens and other special guests cut a ‘shea cake’ (made of natural shea butter) to officially open the store for business.

Asked about her vision for the shea center in the next five to ten years, she remarked;
‘We are hoping to be the number one shea butter producer out of Africa to the world to create more employment for everyone involved in the shea butter value chain, especially our Northern women’
