Is everything functional in your handbag or do you just throw stuff in there and run along?
Having an organized handbag always makes me feel prepared for every situation that might occur, from wardrobe malfunction to bathroom ‘wahala’. I have been more than thankful to my handy little bag on multiple occasions for saving me with the items it holds.
Below is a list of all essential things, that I think every lady must have in her handbag or purse, at all times, whether you are a college student, a working woman, or simply stepping out for an event,
Pad or Tampon
One of the most essential items every lady must have in her bag is a pad or a tampon. Periods do have a funny way of coming unannounced. Keep one or two pads or tampons in the innermost zipper section of your bag to save yourself from the stress of staining yourself.
I never understood why my boss made a fuss about me not having a safety pin in my bag until I found myself in a seam ripped situation. Safety pins are lifesavers, especially in a wardrobe malfunction.
In the era of COVID-19, sanitiser has become a very vital item to carry with you everywhere and at all times. Opt for something with vitamin E or a moisturizing agent so your hands don’t get dried out.
Tissue or Wet Wipes
Carrying a small pack of tissue or wet wipes is a must because they are a lifesaver in many situations. Be it a spilt drink or if you need to wipe your nose and sweat.
Looking stunning the entire day means carrying a makeup kit in your bag for a touch-up. Keep a cute and small makeup pouch in your handbag. You can load it with neutral lipsticks, mascara, eyeliner, oil blotting paper, lip gloss, etc.
If you are a tiny bag person like myself having a lip balm or lip gloss will be fine.
Card and Cash Holder
Every woman should carry a card and a cash holder in their purse or handbag to keep their bags organised. It is very important to carry them along in case of an emergency.
Always keep a few hair accessories (scrunchies, rubber bands, hair bands, clips, comb, bobby pins) in your bag. They’re especially handy when you find yourself overheated and need to put your hair back or lose a hairpin.
Notepad and Pen
My favorite items to carry in my handbag, no matter how tiny it is, are a notepad and a pen. If you just want to make a list, take down a phone number or want to remember something useful, jot it down on a notepad.
Always carry around a small sample or a bottle of hand lotion and use it after every few hours, especially after washing your hands. Hand lotion is very essential, especially during the dry season.
Are there any other items that might be important for you? Don’t hesitate to add them to this list of must-haves in your purse. You never know what can come in handy!
