The 9th edition of the annual African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) was held in Nigeria, spanning three days of African pomp and pageantry. Heralded as African cinema’s biggest night, the African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) seeks to recognize and honor deserving talents and cinematic works from the continent.
The three-day event started on 18th May and ended on 20th May 2023 with a grand climax at the prestigious Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Day one kickstarted with cultural diversity theme night and stars attended with a clear understanding of the theme.



Day two was the nominee’s gala night, during which African top-tier industry stars showed up and showed out on the red carpet.



This year’s AMVCA was hosted by TV and Radio personality IK Osakioduwa and Miss South African Universe 2019, Zozi Tunzi.

The night saw the likes of Kunle Afolayan’s ‘Anikulapo’ and the crime action-thriller ‘Brotherhood’ winning in multiple categories including Best Overall Movie for the former and Best movie, West Africa for the latter.
Over the years, the AMVCA has become a landmark event for fashion, where fans look forward to all the glitz and glamor from the AMVCA red carpet. With Toke Makinwa, Sir Uti, Sika Osei, and VJ Adam as hosts, this year’s red carpet saw jaw-dropping appearances from African superstars across music, film and fashion.
